What is the Conference About?

This information technology conference brings together high calibre educators from across Australia and North America to inform, guide and train teachers and administrators in the use of information technology to support and improve student learning. Over the past 4 years, Technology Showcase has become a well known and attended event in the AIS professional development calendar promoting best practice use of IT in schools through presentations by highly respected educators, case studies from independent schools and skill buildings workshops.

How Will the Conference Be Presented?

In 2001 Technology Showcase will run over 2 days. Each day of the conference will commence with an inspiring plenary presentation: on Thursday by Dr Jamie McKenzie who is a leader in effective implementation of IT in schools and on Friday by Lane Clark one of the pioneering educators from River Oaks School in Canada. The plenaries will be followed by over 35 hands-on workshops.

Trade displays will help provide information on and support for new IT products and services. Participants will be encouraged to collaborate using an online forum specifically for use by delegates.

Outcomes of the Conference:

  • clear principles to guide the implementation of IT within schools and classrooms to improve student learning;
  • awareness of a wide range of hardware, software and peripheral devices and the ways they can be utilised for teaching and learning;
  • opportunities to share with and be inspired by the work of fellow educators utilising IT;
  • skills in the use of a range of hardware and software.
