Writing Assessment Tasks & Examination Questions
for HSC Food Technology

What is the Course About?

This course has been designed to help teachers of Food Technology to resolve any issues or concerns regarding the preparation and writing of examination papers.

Secondly, participants will be able to understand how to make successful assessment grids for the Year 12 Food Technology course. Teachers will also be shown how to create valid and reliable assessment tasks that are set up according to the Board of Studies format.

How Will the Course Be Presented?  

The course will be presented in three sessions:

Session 1 - Writing Examination Papers
Session 2 - Organising Assessment Grids
Session 3 - Writing Assessment Tasks

All sessions will comprise a short presentation followed by group work.

Outcomes of the Course:

As a result of participating in this conference it is expected that teachers will gain an understanding of how:

  • to prepare assessment grids;
  • to write valid and reliable assessment tasks;
  • to prepare and write appropriate examination questions for preliminary and HSC trial examination papers.
