Stage 6 Science Resources Day

What is the Course About?

The aim of the day is to provide teachers of HSC Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses with content, techniques and resources to effectively deliver the new HSC component of the syllabi.

How Will the Course Be Presented?  

The day will include subject-specific sessions in which experts will talk about some of the new content in the syllabus. Each subject will also have a lab session in which a range of data-loggers can be used to work through and develop practical experiences drawn from the required skills in the new syllabus. Other sessions will address where to find the most relevant and useful on-line resources and a chance for teachers to discuss issues associated with delivering and assessing the new courses.

Outcomes of the Course:

As a result of participating in this course it is expected that teachers will gain:

  • theoretical background needed for new sections of the syllabus;
  • experience in the use of data-loggers as tools of investigation in the classroom;
  • assistance in he development of on-line resource lists;
  • support and feedback from colleagues about successful strategies for Stage 6.

Target Group: Teachers of Stage 6 Science.
Special Instructions Please bring current syllabus and at least one successful assessment task used in Stage 6.

Certification: Certificates will be made available to all participants who fulfil the course requirements.

Please note: AIS Professional Development courses can be accumulated to apply for University accreditation.
