AIS Drama Conference

What is the Conference About?

This course is offered to HSC Drama teachers and teachers intending to teach HSC Drama to help in developing and consolidating programs in Studies of Australian Theatre and Drama and Studies of Theatre and Drama.

The conference will focus on:

  • providing a perspective to Studies in Australian Drama and Theatre;
  • approaches to the teaching of Studies of Australian Drama and Theatre as well as Studies in Drama and Theatre developed by experienced teachers;
  • giving teachers first hand experience of some practical tasks developed for the set texts;
  • sharing of resources and assessment tasks;participants gaining confidence in their own approach through discussion and interaction.
How Will the Conference Be Presented?  

The day will commence with a Plenary session focussing on issues relating to Australian Drama  and Theatre. There will then be a choice of workshops.

Outcomes of the Conference:

As a result of participating in this course it is expected that teachers will gain:

  • a deeper understanding of the Topic Area, Studies in Australian Drama and Theatre;
  • strategies for teaching topic areas for the written paper;
  • exposure to topic areas not yet attempted in the classroom;
  • practical examples of assessment tasks, criteria and marking guidelines for HSC Drama;
  • opportunities to develop contacts and networks of support as a resource for the future.

Certification: Certificates will be made available to all participants who fulfil the course requirements.

Please note: AIS Professional Development courses can be accumulated to apply for University accreditation.
