IT's Easy

This series of workshops is designed for all K-12 teachers who are interested in extending their skills in information technology and its practical application in the classroom. The series will be offered centrally and can also be presented in independent schools on request.

Creating Multi-media with Students

This course highlights the use of multi-media creation to support student learning, provides an overview of the hardware and software tools available and hands-on practice in the creation of a multi-media presentation.

Capturing, manipulating and Using Digital Images

This workshop will provide participants with hands on experience using digital cameras and scanners to capture images and image editing software to modify images. The process of placing images in presentation and word processing software will be reviewed. The use of digital images to enhance the curriculum will be examined.

Exploring Animation

This three hour workshop will provide teachers with hands on experience using a variety of software applications for building simple animations from still images. Participants will learn how to build simple animated GIF files and how this technology may extend the use of digital camera technology.

Publishing on the Web

This course will guide participants through the creation of their own web page using Frontpage Express. The course will orient teachers to a range of skills and concepts fundamental to web publishing.

The Potential of Powerpoint

In this three hour workshop teachers will examine innovative ways to use Microsoft Powerpoint to support student learning while building teachers' basic skills for using this software tool. Participants will learn how to build non-linear slide shows with imbedded still and moving images and audio files.

Advanced Tools for Publishing on the Web

This course wil be conducted as 2 x 3 hour workshops and will introduce teachers with existing web publishing experience to professional web publishing tools such as Dreamweaver, Flash and Course Builder. Participants will construct a web page adding a simple animation and some interactivity.
