Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the new school year and the challenges of continuing to implement the new curriculum and assessment with which we are faced. As we face the first year of the new HSC, AIS will again offer a wide range of PD courses for Stage 6 including a 2 day conference for school executive and cross-sectoral LIG events in Maths and English.

The AIS team of consultants and school-based professional development committees has worked hard over the last few months to put together for you a comprehensive plan of professional development. We hope that the plans you will find outlined in this newsletter will help to meet your needs and those of your colleagues in addressing the challenges we face.

In addition, we hope that the continued use of the AIS Website will help everyone to quickly access newsletters, course information and the growing wealth of HSC support. In addition to the very successful sample Preliminary Year programs which we developed over the last 2 years, we hope this year to complete your access to the HSC Action Research project reports. The HSC section of the site should again prove an invaluable resource to independent schools.

New in 2001 will be a range of activities funded through the Commonwealth Quality Teacher Program (QTP). This program will also allow us to subsidise a range of AIS technology and literacy PD courses this year. For details please visit the QTP section of this site.
